If you are looking for us, we are at No. 32 in Thattara Lane. It’s right opposite M R S P Bhavni & Co on West Masi Street. That street is always crowded, so it’s better if you come on a two-wheeler because parking a car is almost impossible most days. The shop itself is tucked into the lane. It’s been here for a long time. Inside, it smells like metal and oil, which is what you’d expect from a hardware place. We have shelves reaching all the way to the ceiling. Most of the time, I’m climbing up a ladder to reach some old box of screws or a specific hinge someone needs. The lighting isn't great in the back, but we have a flashlight handy. My father used to say that a shop is only as good as the stuff it keeps in the corners, so we keep a lot. Sometimes people come in with a broken part and ask if we have something like it. We spend time comparing sizes and threads. It's slow work sometimes. The tea stall nearby brings us tea twice a day, and that’s when we usually take a break. The lane is narrow, so you can hear everyone’s business outside. It’s a loud place but it’s home for us. We don’t have a big sign, just the old one that’s been there forever. Most people find us by word of mouth anyway because we've been in this lane so long.
