Narayana Essence Mart

We have been here at 48, Alangombu Street for a good while now. Chinnamanur is a small place but it stays busy enough for us. Running Narayana Essence Mart takes up most of my day, from early morning until we close the shutters. It’s mostly about keeping the shelves stocked with the essences people need for their cooking or small businesses. The street gets dusty sometimes, especially when the wind picks up, but that’s just how it is around here. I usually sit near the front to see who is coming in. My cousin helps out when he can, though he has his own work too. We don’t have fancy displays or anything like that. It is just a regular shop where you can find what you need without a fuss. Some days are slower than others. On those days, I just talk with the neighbors or watch the traffic go by. People know us because we’ve been in this same spot for years. We handle the bottles carefully and try to keep things organized, even if it gets a bit cluttered during delivery days. You won’t find any big signs or bright lights here. It is just a plain building with a door that stays open most of the time. I like the routine of it. Every morning starts with a bit of cleaning and checking the inventory. It is honest work and it keeps us going. The ceiling fan hums all day and we just keep at it.
