Murugan Store

Murugan Store is located at 152 Periyar Road in Kelapudur. It’s a pretty straightforward shop where we keep the essentials that people in the neighborhood need. Periyar Road is usually busy with scooters and people walking by, so there’s always something to look at from the storefront. We spend our mornings checking the milk delivery and making sure the grain sacks are placed correctly. The shop has been here for a while, and the wooden shelves are starting to show their age a bit. We don't have a big team of employees, just a couple of us who take turns behind the counter. It’s not a fancy supermarket with bright lights and music. It’s just a local store where the ceiling fan hums all day and the floor is made of plain cement. We spend a lot of time talking to the regulars about the weather or local news while we weigh out their items. Sometimes the stock doesn't arrive on time, and we have to explain that to the customers, which can be a bit frustrating for everyone. Kelapudur is a close-knit area, and we feel like a small part of that. We don’t try to do anything flashy or complicated. We just open up early, stay late if we have to, and make sure we have the basics in stock for the families around here. It's a quiet life but it keeps us connected to the people.
