Moorthy Store

If you walk down Lakshmipuram Street in Thoppupatti, you’ll find us at number 11. Moorthy Store has been part of this neighborhood for a good while now. It’s not a massive supermarket or anything like that, just a regular local store where we keep the things people usually need. We open up early in the morning, usually before the sun is fully up, to get everything ready for the day. There is always a lot of sweeping and dusting to do because the street gets quite a bit of traffic. We know most of the people who come in by name, and we usually end up chatting about the weather or the local news while they shop. The shelves are always full, and sometimes it feels a bit cramped when we get a big delivery in. We don't have a computer system for everything; a lot of it is still done with a pen and a notebook. It works for us. Sometimes the cat from next door comes in to sit in the shade, and we don't mind much. We aren't trying to be fancy. We just want to make sure the folks in Thoppupatti have a place to get their essentials without having to travel too far. It’s a simple life, running the store and seeing the same friendly faces every day. We’re just glad to be here and doing our part for the community and our family.
