Moon Light Footwear is right here on Sunnambukkara Street. The address is a bit confusing because it’s New No. 75 but people still remember it as Old No. 23. We keep both numbers on the mail just so things actually get delivered. The street is usually crowded and full of noise, which is just part of the charm of this area. Our shop is full of boxes, stacked almost to the ceiling in the back. There’s that specific smell of leather and rubber that you get in every shoe place. We've been on Sunnambukkara Street for quite a while, watching other shops come and go. It’s a small space, so we have to be careful not to trip over anything when we're pulling sizes for people. We don't use any fancy computer systems to track everything, mostly just notebooks and memory. It works for us. Some of the floor tiles are a little cracked, and the front door squeaks every time it opens, but it’s home. We know most of the neighbors, and we usually swap stories over tea when things are slow in the afternoon. People come in looking for something comfortable or something for a special occasion, and we just show them what we have on the shelves. It’s not a glamorous life, but selling shoes at Moon Light Footwear is what we do. It’s honest work and we like being part of the street. Sometimes the stock gets a bit mixed up, but we always find what we're looking for eventually. We just keep stacking boxes and helping people out.
