Templecitys Traditional Handlooms

Templecitys Traditional Handlooms is located at 37 North Chiprai Street. It’s a quiet enough street compared to the main bazaar, but we still get a lot of foot traffic. We’ve been working with handlooms for a long time. The shop isn't very large, but it’s filled with the smell of dyed yarn and cotton. We have shelves that go all the way up, stacked with different weaves and fabrics. There is a small area in the back where we do the sorting. Most of the time, you’ll find us sitting among the piles of cloth, checking for any loose threads or mistakes in the weave. It’s slow work compared to the big factories, but that’s just how we do it here. We don't have any bright neon signs or anything like that. Just a simple wooden board outside. The floor is made of old stone and it stays relatively cool even when it’s hot outside. We often sit and have tea with the customers who have been coming to us for years. It’s more of a community thing than a big business. We spend our days counting stock and folding things neatly, though by the end of the day, everything is usually a bit of a mess again. It’s a simple life on North Chiprai Street. We aren't looking to change much, just keeping the tradition going as best as we can with what we have. Sometimes the old wooden shelves creak under the weight.
