Mariamma Stores

Mariamma Stores is tucked away in the Pp Savadi area near Kalavasal, right in the heart of the Madurai Bazaar. It is a very crowded part of the city, especially near where the Susi Auto stand is. There is always the sound of horns and people shouting, but that is just how the bazaar is. Our shop is small, and we have to use every inch of space to fit the goods. We sell items that people need for their daily cooking and cleaning. It can get a bit cramped inside when there are more than three customers, but nobody seems to mind the squeeze. We have been here for years, watching the city change around us. The older buildings are slowly being replaced, but we stay the same. We take pride in knowing which brand of coffee or oil each regular customer prefers. It makes the work feel more personal. We don’t use any complicated systems, just a simple ledger to keep track of things. The light in the back is a bit dim, so we rely on the sunlight coming through the front door. It’s a busy life, but we wouldn’t have it any other way. People stop by on their way home from work to grab a few last-minute things. We just keep the door open and wait for the next person.
