We’ve been working out of South Veli Street for quite a few years now. If you know Madurai, you know how busy this area gets, especially with all the traffic and people moving about. Our shop isn't anything fancy, just a place where we get the metal work done. Most mornings start with unlocking the heavy shutters and clearing out the dust that settles overnight. We have a few old machines that make a lot of noise, but they still do the job right. Some days are slower than others. We spend a lot of time talking to the regulars who drop by for small fixes or just to see what we are working on. The heat in the afternoon can be tough, so we usually take a break for tea at the corner stall. It's a loud place with all the welding and hammering going on, but that’s just how it is. We don't have a big office or anything like that. Just a desk with a lot of papers and some oily rags sitting around. It’s mostly just us trying to stay on top of the orders that come in. Sometimes we run out of materials and have to wait for the truck to show up. It’s a simple way to make a living, and South Veli Street feels like home after all this time. We know the neighbors and they know us. That’s pretty much the whole story of Madurai Engineering Company.
