Kani Store

Kani Store is located at number 45 in Karumathur. We’re out here in Kattangudi, which is a nice enough place to live and work. The store is basically just a room with shelves and a counter. We sell a bit of everything that people might need in a hurry. It’s not a supermarket or anything big like that. Most of the time, it’s just quiet until the school lets out or people finish their work in the fields. We spend a lot of time sitting on the wooden stools near the entrance, waiting for customers and watching the street. The sign outside is a bit faded from the sun, but everyone knows it’s Kani Store. We don’t have any computers here; we just use a calculator and a paper pad to keep track of sales. It’s simpler that way, and we don’t have to worry about the power going out. The address is easy to find because we’re right near the main path. Sometimes the neighbors come by just to talk for a bit even if they don’t need to buy anything. It makes the day go by a bit faster. We’ve been here for years, and not much has changed in how we run things. It’s a small life, but it suits us just fine. We just try to keep enough stock so nobody leaves empty-handed.
