Ganesh Maligai

Ganesh Maligai is our shop on Kaliamman Kovil Street. We are located in Kottampatti, which is part of the Melur area in Madurai. Specifically, we are right by the Trichy Main Road. The pin code is 625106. Being near the main road means we get a lot of people passing through. But mostly, we serve the local people from Kottampatti. It's a traditional maligai store. We have bags of rice, pulses, and all the cooking needs. It smells like spices inside. I’ve been running this place for years. It’s hard work, lifting heavy sacks and staying on your feet. But it’s what we do. My kids sometimes help out after school. We don't have any fancy systems. We just write things down and keep track of what's sold. People around here are friendly. They stop to chat for a few minutes while they shop. That’s the best part of the day. Trichy Main Road can get very noisy with all the trucks, but inside the shop, it’s just business as usual. We try to keep our prices fair for the neighbors. We aren't trying to get rich, just trying to provide for the family. It’s a humble place in a busy part of Madurai. We just keep the doors open and wait for the next customer. It is a long day from start to finish but it is worth it for us to be here.
