Chil Confectionery

Chil Confectionery is at 46/14, Swamy Sannathy Street. Since we are on a temple street, there are always people walking by, especially during the festival times when it gets really packed. Our shop isn't very large, but we make sure it’s filled with different sweets and treats. The smell of sugar and spices usually drifts out onto the sidewalk and brings people in. We do a lot of the work in the back kitchen where it stays pretty warm because of the stoves. We started out just making a few items and then added more as the local kids and families started asking for them. It’s a family-run thing, so you’ll usually see one of us behind the counter or stacking shelves. We don't use any fancy packaging or big advertisements. We just put the items in glass jars or simple bags for people to carry. The floor is old tile, and we’ve had the same wooden shelves for as long as I can remember. Sometimes the street gets so crowded that the delivery bikes can’t even get to the door. We just carry the trays in by hand from the main road. We enjoy talking to the regulars who stop by every morning for a quick chat. It’s a simple life, and we like being part of the neighborhood. We aren't trying to be a big chain; we just want to make sure the locals have something sweet.
