Babu Engineering

Our shop, Babu Engineering, is located at No. 91E on East Veli Street. It’s a busy part of the city with a lot of shops and vehicles constantly moving. The noise of the street is something we’ve just gotten used to over the years. Inside our place, it’s all about metalwork and fixing things. We have lathes and welding machines that stay busy most of the day. It’s a bit dark inside because the building is narrow, but we have enough light to see what we are doing. There are piles of scrap metal and old parts in the corners. We don't really have a front office or anything like that. If you come by, you just walk straight onto the shop floor. My clothes are usually stained with oil or metal shavings by the afternoon. It’s honest work. We take in various small jobs from people around the neighborhood or bigger parts that need repairing. We don't have a website or anything. Most people just know where we are on East Veli Street and bring their stuff over. We usually start early before it gets too hot and keep going until the light fades. Sometimes we sit on the stools outside for a break when the shop gets too warm. It’s a basic setup but it works for the kind of engineering we do. No frills, just hard work and grease.
