Annai Therasa English School

This school is situated in Mrr Nagar, Pc Patti, over in the Theni Allinagaram area. It’s right near Palanichettipatti. We call it Annai Therasa English School because we try to have the kids speak English here as much as possible. Of course, the children often slip back into Tamil during their lunch breaks or while playing. The building is a two-story structure and we have it painted a light shade that has faded a bit over the years. We have a small playground in the front where we do our morning drills and exercises. The classrooms are okay, nothing special to look at, just rows of desks and a blackboard. We have a small office where we keep the trophies from the inter-school competitions we’ve entered over the years. They are a bit dusty now. Our teachers are mostly local ladies from the town. We have a school bell that someone has to ring manually with a hammer at the end of every period. Sometimes they forget the time and the class goes on a bit longer than it should. We don't have a lot of high-tech equipment like computers for every student. We mostly rely on the textbooks and the teacher’s handwritten notes. The parents are mostly local workers and shopkeepers from the nearby market. They really want their kids to learn English well for their future. We do our best with what we have here.
