Virdi Textile Engineering Works

Out on Chandigarh Road in Mundian Kalan, you’ll find Virdi Textile Engineering Works. We are right near the Government High School, so we hear the kids during their breaks. Our shop is mostly full of heavy metal parts and tools for textile machinery. We fix things that have broken down and sometimes make new parts when the old ones can't be found anymore. It’s heavy work, and there’s always a bit of grease on everything. Mundian Kalan has grown a lot, but we’ve stayed right here on the main road. The sparks from the grinders and the sound of hammers are what our days are made of. We don't have a showroom or anything like that. People just bring their broken equipment to the back and we see what we can do. It takes a lot of patience to get the gears to line up just right. We’ve been doing this for a long time, and we’ve seen all sorts of machines come through the door. Some are ancient and some are newer, but they all need a bit of care. We just keep our heads down and focus on the metal. It’s a solid way to make a living, even if the work is loud and dirty. We take our time with the lathes because you can't rush this kind of engineering. When the school bell rings in the afternoon, we know we're getting close to finishing for the day.
