Sydney Shoes

Sydney Shoes is based out of House Number 1901 in Habib Ganj, which is a busy area in Ludhiana. The shop is basically a room filled from floor to ceiling with shoe boxes. We carry all sorts of stuff, from simple sandals to the kind of shoes people wear for work. It can get pretty cramped in here when we have more than two or three people looking at once. I spend a lot of time climbing up the ladder to pull down a specific size from the top shelf. The floor is usually covered in discarded tissue paper and empty boxes by the end of a busy Saturday. Habib Ganj is a place where everyone seems to be in a hurry, so we try to find what people need quickly. The lighting in the shop is a bit yellow, and we have a couple of fans going to keep the air moving when it gets muggy outside. My hands are usually busy reorganizing the stacks so they don't fall over. We don't really do any big advertising, people just see the shoes in the window and come in. It is a simple life, selling footwear to the locals. Some of the regulars have been coming here for years, and they usually know exactly what they want. We just keep the stock updated and try to remember where we put every pair. It is a lot of standing around and waiting, followed by bursts of activity.
