Shanker Printing Mills Private Limited

We are out here in Pandori Waraich on Majitha Road in Amritsar. Our unit is at 18-19. It’s a bit outside the main city, which is nice because there’s more space. We do printing on fabrics. We have these long tables where the cloth gets laid out. The smell of ink is pretty strong, but you get used to it after a few minutes. We have some screen printing setups and some newer stuff too. It’s a lot of manual labor. We have to move the screens by hand and make sure the alignment is right. If someone slips, the whole piece is ruined. We try to be careful, but we are only human. The fans are always blowing to help the ink dry faster. Sometimes the power cuts out and we have to wait around. We usually just sit in the shade of the doorway and chat. We’ve been here for several years now. The building is a bit old and the paint is peeling in some spots. We care more about what comes out of the machines than what the walls look like. It’s a practical place. We get the orders from the city, do the printing, and send them back. It’s a simple life. We don't use fancy words to describe what we do. We just print. The crew is local and they know the job well. We just hope for steady work and good weather to dry the cloth properly.
