Saini Clinic

I’ve been at Saini Clinic on Street No. 3 in Gobindpura for quite some time. It’s right in the Janakpuri area, and everyone around here knows where it is. It’s just a small local clinic, nothing like those big hospitals you see in the city center. I walk to work every morning, and I usually see the same people opening their shops or sweeping the street. The clinic has a wooden bench outside for people to sit on if the inside gets too cramped. We have a small room where the check-ups happen and a front area where I sit. My desk is old and the drawers stick sometimes. I spend a lot of time looking through paper files because we still do things the old-fashioned way here. The walls are decorated with some basic health posters that have been there for years. We get a lot of kids and elderly people from the neighborhood. It’s a place where people come to talk as much as they come for medicine. You can hear the sounds of the neighborhood through the door—kids playing, someone selling vegetables, the occasional car horn. It’s not fancy, but it serves the people on this street well. I keep a jar of water on my desk and a small fan to stay cool. It’s a quiet, steady kind of job, and I like knowing the people who walk through the door by name.
