Sahil Hair Dreeser

Started the shop in Abdullapur Basti quite some time ago. We are right by the Dhuri Line, so you can always hear things happening outside. It's a small place, just a few chairs and the big mirrors that have been here since the start. Ludhiana gets quite dusty, so there is a lot of cleaning to do every morning before the first person walks in. Sahil usually gets here early to sweep the floor and set up the combs and scissors. Most people who come here live just down the street or work nearby. It’s not fancy or anything. We have a small fan that rattles a bit when it's on high, but it keeps the air moving. Sometimes the neighbors pop their heads in just to say hello or talk about the weather. It gets busy on weekends when everyone wants to look tidy for the week ahead. We keep the towels stacked in the corner and the spray bottles filled. There is a specific smell of hair tonic and talcum powder that stays in the air even after we close up for the night. We don't have a big sign or anything flashy, just the name on the door. It’s a simple life here in this part of town, just doing the work day by day and seeing the same faces. People sit and wait their turn, maybe reading a scrap of newspaper left behind.
