Makkar Electronics

We’re located at 217 New Town, which is right near the Kochar Market and the Gurudwara. It’s a good spot because people are always passing by on their way to the market. Inside Makkar Electronics, we’ve got shelves full of parts and old gadgets that people brought in for repair. It’s a bit cluttered, but we know where everything is. We spend most of the day with a soldering iron in hand or testing out circuits. People bring in all sorts of things, from broken radios to modern TVs that stopped working for no reason. Sometimes we can fix them quickly, and other times we have to wait weeks for a spare part to arrive. It’s a small shop, and there’s usually some tea being shared while we talk to customers about their electronics. We’ve been in this neighborhood for a long time. The street outside can get quite loud with all the traffic heading towards the market. We don't do much advertising; people just know we’re here by the Gurudwara. It’s a simple life, fixing things and making sure we don't mix up the customers' orders. We try to be fair with everyone who walks in. When the power goes out, we just light a candle and keep talking until it comes back. It’s just how things go in our little corner of New Town. We keep the doors open till late most evenings to help folks coming back from work.
