Nandini Dairy And Ivf Development Foundation is based out of Bathoi Kalan, specifically at Baldev Singh’s place, who is the son of Gobind Singh. Being out in the village means our days start very early, usually before the sun is even up. You can hear the cows and the sounds of the countryside as soon as you step out. We focus a lot on dairy and the technical side of breeding, which is the IVF part of what we do. It is a mix of old-fashioned farming and some pretty modern science. Baldev Singh has been here a long time, so everyone knows the house and the sheds where the animals are kept. The air is different out here than in the city, much fresher but with that constant smell of hay and cattle. We spend a lot of time checking on the health of the cows and making sure the milk is handled right. It is not just about the business; it is about the animals and the people who look after them every day. Sometimes we sit on the charpai outside and talk about the herd while waiting for a delivery. There is always something to do, whether it is cleaning the stalls or looking at charts. It is a quiet kind of work but it is very important to us and the people in the village who depend on the dairy for their daily needs. We have been doing this for quite some time now.
