Life at Jhajj Dairy starts way before the sun actually comes up. Being right on G T Road, we get a lot of travelers and truck drivers stopping by for a drink early in the morning. The smell of fresh milk is something you never really lose after working here for a few weeks. We keep the place as clean as we can manage, but it’s a dairy, so there’s always a bit of a damp feel to the floors and the counters. We handle the heavy milk cans every single morning and make sure everything is ready for the local families who come by. It’s a lot of physical work, lifting and moving those heavy metal containers around. The G T Road traffic is a constant hum in the background of our lives, never really stopping. We have some regular customers who have been coming to us for many years now. They usually bring their own steel containers to fill up. Sometimes we have some extra cream or fresh butter depending on the day and the season. It’s a simple life, mostly focused on getting the product to people while it's still fresh. The cooling units are always buzzing in the corner, which is a sound I’ve grown to find quite comforting during the long shifts. We don't have any fancy packaging or big signs. It’s just the dairy and the customers. My boots are usually soaking wet by the time I finish my shift. We’ve been here a long time and the road has seen many changes.
