If you know Jagraon well, you know how crowded Jhansi Rani Chowk gets. Our shop, Pg Electronic, is tucked right into Bombay Wali Gali. It is a narrow street, so it’s easy to miss us if you are in a rush. Most of the day is spent looking at wires and small parts under a magnifying glass. My hands usually have some solder on them or a bit of dust from old televisions people bring in. It gets loud outside with all the rickshaws and people talking, but inside it is mostly the sound of the fan. We have been in this spot for years. The shelves are full of things we might need later, like old remotes and circuit boards that don't have a home yet. People come in to ask if we can fix things that are probably too old to bother with, but we usually take a look anyway. It’s better than throwing things away. Sometimes the alley gets flooded when it rains hard, and we have to put everything on the higher shelves. We don’t have a big team, just a few of us who know how to handle a screwdriver. It’s a good spot to work. You see everyone from the town passing by at some point. We keep the shutters open most of the day to let the air in, even if it brings the street noise with it.
