Hambri Hospital

Hambri Hospital is out in the Bpo Bilaspur area, which is part of Tehsil Payal. We are located near the Gurdwara Karamsar Rara Sahib, and the Bank of India is also quite close to us. It is a bit of a rural setting, so things move a little slower around here compared to the big city hospitals. We have people coming in from the nearby villages all the time. Sometimes they come on tractors or bikes. The hospital building is simple and doesn't have many floors. We spend a lot of time outside talking to the families who wait under the trees when it is hot. Inside, we have the basic wards and a place for people to get their medicine. The floors are made of stone and they stay cool even when the sun is beating down on the roof. We know most of the people who come in by their first names because word travels fast in Payal. Sometimes the internet at the desk is slow, so we have to write everything down in big ledgers by hand. It feels more personal that way, I think. We have been here near the Gurdwara for many years and have seen the neighborhood change a bit. Still, the hospital stays pretty much the same. We just keep the doors open and wait to see who needs help next. It’s just a regular part of life in Bilaspur for everyone here.
