Being located near the Jalandhar Bypass in Salem Tabri means there is always a lot of dust and noise coming from the road. Our place at Plot No. 50 in Ashok Nagar is usually piled high with boxes. It gets pretty cramped inside when we have several orders going at once. We’ve got the old offset machines and some newer digital ones too. They all make a lot of noise, so we usually have to shout to hear each other. We spend most of our time looking at proofs or washing ink off our hands before lunch. It’s a bit of a mess sometimes, but that’s just how printing goes. People come in with all sorts of requests, from simple cards to big posters. We don’t really do fancy meetings or anything like that. You just come in, tell us what you need, and we see if we can fit it in the schedule. Sometimes the power cuts out and everything stops, which is frustrating, but we just wait it out and start again. The neighbors are mostly other small workshops, so we all know each other. We’ve been in this building for a while and the walls are stained with a bit of ink here and there. It feels like home to us. It’s just a regular shop where we work hard and try to keep the machines running without too much trouble.
