Gee Ice Cream

The freezer hums all day at Gee Ice Cream. We are located at Model Gram Kochar Market 70, right where the foot traffic is heaviest. It gets loud in the afternoon. People stop in because they see the sign from the street. The floor is tile and it’s a bit cracked near the entrance. I usually keep a mop nearby because kids drop things or the rain gets tracked in. The lids on the ice cream tubs are heavy. My wrists get a bit sore from scooping by the time we close up. There’s a small bench outside for people to sit, but it’s usually full of bags from the market. We don’t have much wall space for decorations. Mostly just a few lists of what we have and some old calendars. Kochar Market 70 is a busy spot, so there is always someone walking past the window. I know most of the other shopkeepers around here. We nod to each other when we’re opening up our shutters. The lights are bright so people can see the colors of the different scoops. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to move fast. It’s a lot of work keeping things cold when it’s hot outside. I usually wear an apron that has a few stains on it. It’s just how it is when you’re working with food all day long. There are no fancy chairs here, just the cold treats and the noise of the market outside.
