Working out of 418 Industrial Area A means we are right in the middle of all the heavy action. Fabritex Mech Engineering Corporation isn’t a small operation, but it still feels like a local family shop at heart. The building is big and echoes when the hammers start going in the morning. We deal with a lot of mechanical engineering tasks, mostly stuff for the factories nearby. There’s always a truck backing in or leaving with a load of finished parts. The floor is concrete and stays cold in the winter, which makes the morning tea taste even better. We don’t spend much time on the computer or doing paperwork unless we absolutely have to. Most of the time is spent looking at blueprints or adjusting the settings on the machines to get the cuts just right. It’s a noisy environment, but you get used to the rhythm of the drills and the hum of the motors after a few days. We’ve had some of the same guys working here for over ten years now, so we all know how to work together without saying much. It’s not the kind of place you’d come for a tour, it’s a working shop where things get dirty and loud. We just stay focused on getting the jobs out the door so the local industries keep moving. It’s what we know how to do.
