Christian Medical College & Hospital

Being located right at CMC Chowk on Brown Road means things are never quiet for us. The Christian Medical College & Hospital is a landmark in this part of town, and the noise from the traffic at the chowk is just part of our daily background music. You’ll hear the horns and the buses all day long while we are inside attending to things. The building itself has been expanded and patched up so many times that the layout is a bit like a puzzle. If you aren't careful, you might take a wrong turn and end up in a different wing than where you started. We spend a lot of our time directing people who look a bit lost. The staff here is a hardworking bunch. We mostly wear comfortable shoes because of all the walking on these concrete floors. We don’t have much in the way of decoration, just some posters about health and some old wooden benches where people sit and wait. It’s a busy hospital, so there is always a bit of a crowd near the entrance. In the afternoons, when it gets hot, the ceiling fans hum along and provide a bit of a breeze. We have a small tea stall just outside the gate where we usually grab a quick drink between shifts. It’s an honest, hectic place to work, but it feels good to be right in the middle of everything on Brown Road.
