Salhan Studio

Our studio is in Basti Jodhewal. We’ve been taking photos here for a good while now. It’s a small place where we do passport photos, family portraits, and sometimes we go out to cover local weddings or other small events in the community. The lighting inside isn't the most modern or high-tech, but we know how to make it work for a decent shot. We have a few backdrops that have seen better days and are a bit faded, but they still look okay in the final prints. Most of the time it’s just me here, waiting for someone to come in needing a quick photo for an ID card or a school application. I spend a lot of my time sitting at the old computer doing basic edits and getting things ready for the printer. The printer is a bit noisy and it seems like it’s always running out of ink right when I have a lot to do. We don't have any fancy assistants or a makeup artist or anything like that, it's just a simple setup for regular people. People from around the neighborhood stop in quite a bit, sometimes just to chat about the local news. We have some old cameras on display that don't work anymore, but I like having them around because they remind me of how things used to be. It’s a quiet life, mostly, except when it’s wedding season and then everything gets very hectic for us very fast.
