Basant Saggu Ice Cream Corner

We run Basant Saggu Ice Cream Corner right near the Aarti Chowk Railway Crossing, so it gets very loud when the trains go past. The ground actually shakes a little bit. We have our ice cream machines running all day in the GIDC Estate area. It gets quite dusty around here with all the industrial stuff going on. We spend a lot of time cleaning the glass on the freezers so people can see what we have. It’s mostly just milk, sugar, and whatever flavors we are using that day. Some days the heat is so bad that we worry about the power staying on. If the freezers stop, we are in big trouble. We serve the ice cream in simple cups or cones. There is no fancy seating area, just a few spots to stand under the shade. The staff is mostly family and a couple of local guys. We have a lot of truck drivers and workers stop by because of the location. They just want something cold before they get back to work. We don't do anything special with the presentation. It’s just cold ice cream. The railway crossing gate goes up and down, and we just keep scooping. Sometimes we run out of the popular flavors by evening. We just make more the next day. It’s a busy spot but we like it here. There is always a lot of noise but we have gotten used to it.
