Awad Lal Gupta Mehandi Art

We are located in Gol Market at Samrala Chowk here in Ludhiana. If you know where Ramesh Fashion Point is, we are right near that spot. Awad Lal Gupta Mehandi Art is mostly about sitting down and getting the work done. We have a few small stools and a bench where people wait. The smell of fresh henna is always strong here, which most people seem to like. It is a very busy market area, so there is always someone walking by or looking at the designs we have pinned up. We don't have a fancy office or anything like that. It is just a simple setup where we keep our cones and some oil. During the wedding season, the place gets very crowded and we are often working late into the night. My hands are usually stained orange or brown from the mehandi, which is just part of the job. We see a lot of mothers and daughters coming in together. Sometimes the kids get restless because they have to sit still for so long. We tell them stories or they just watch the people walking through Samrala Chowk. The lighting inside isn't the best, but we have a few extra lamps for when we need to do very fine work. It’s a humble place, and we just focus on making sure the patterns look right before the customer leaves the shop for their home and shows it to others.
