Womanz Saloon

We’ve been running Womanz Saloon here in Kapoorthala for a while now. Lucknow gets really hot in the summers, so we keep the fans going all day. The shop is right in the middle of the market area, so there is always noise from the street outside. People are always rushing past. We usually open up early in the morning, around the time the tea stalls nearby start their stoves. It’s just a normal place with a few chairs and big mirrors that we have to clean constantly. You know how it is with hair and dust. Sometimes the light flickers if the power is acting up, which happens a lot around here. We don’t have any fancy talk to give. We just handle the basics like cutting hair or doing threads for the ladies who live in the neighborhood. My back usually hurts by five in the afternoon but we stay open later for the office crowd. The address on the paper says Kapoorthala, Lucknow 226006, and that is exactly where you will find us if you walk down the main lane. We see the same faces every day, mostly local aunties and girls from the colleges nearby. It’s a busy life but we are used to it by now. The floor gets covered in hair every hour and we just keep sweeping it away into the corner. It’s not a glamorous life, just a regular day at work.
