Variety Store

Variety Store is located in Nazirabad, right in the heart of Lucknow. If you know this area, you know how narrow the lanes can get and how many people are always walking around. Our shop is packed with all sorts of things, which is probably why it got named Variety Store. We have household items, small electronics, and some stationery too. It is a lot of work to keep track of it all. The shelves are quite high and I often have to use a long stick with a hook to get things down for people. It is a bit of an old-fashioned way of doing things, but it works for us. The building we are in has seen better days, and the ceiling has some water stains from the last big rain. We don't mind it much. We have a small wooden stool behind the counter where we sit when there are no customers. Most of the time, someone is coming in for a lightbulb or a packet of tea. Lucknow is a city that loves its food and talk, so we end up chatting with people quite a bit. We don't have any corporate training or anything like that. We just learned by doing it every day. The noise from Nazirabad stays with you even after you go home. It’s just a busy, messy, and real place to work. We’ve been here for a while and don't plan on going anywhere else.
