We’ve been here in Rakabganj for a good while now. Most people around Kundri know where we are because we’re right on the main stretch in Lucknow. It’s a busy spot. The shop stays pretty packed with all sorts of things people need for their houses. We’ve got the usual stuff like soap, flour, and tea leaves. Sometimes the delivery trucks block the road when they’re dropping off boxes of snacks or detergents, but that’s just how it goes here. We open up early because that’s when the neighbors like to come by before they head off to work or take the kids to school. It gets a bit dusty with all the traffic passing through Rakab Ganj, so we’re always wiping down the shelves. There’s no fancy air conditioning or anything like that. Just a couple of fans keeping the air moving while we sort through the stock. We try to keep everything in its place so we don’t have to hunt for a packet of salt when someone is in a hurry. Usually, it’s just one of us behind the counter. If it’s really busy, we just ask people to wait a minute. Most customers are regulars from the nearby streets anyway, so they don’t mind a bit of a chat while we weigh things out or look for change in the drawer. It’s just a simple place to get your daily needs without having to go all the way to a big market.
