Our place is at A 13 in the Government Industrial Estate over in Talkatora. Being in an industrial zone means there is always the sound of metal clanging or trucks idling nearby. We work with dental equipment, like the chairs and the lights you see at a dentist’s office. It’s heavy work and everything is made of metal and plastic. Our workshop floor is usually covered in some kind of shavings or grease from the assembly process. We have a small group of people who know how to put these things together. We don't have a fancy reception area or anything like that. When someone comes to see us, they usually just walk right into the middle of the workspace. There’s a lot of welding and bolting things together. We have some old shelves where we keep the smaller parts like drills and bits. Talkatora is a busy part of town for manufacturing, so we fit right in with the other shops. It’s often quite hot in the warehouse, especially when the machines are running, but we have a few big fans that help a bit. We don't spend much time on the computer unless we have to order more raw materials. Mostly we are just using our hands to get things built. It’s a long day, but we’ve been doing it this way at A 13 for years. We just keep our heads down.
