Swastika Ladies Beauty Parlour

Our parlour is located in the Yadav Complex on Kursi Road in Lucknow. We are right in the middle of Aliganj Bazar, near Tedhi Pulia and the subji mandi. Because of the vegetable market, it is always very loud and crowded outside our door. There are sellers shouting and people everywhere. Inside the parlour, I try to keep things a bit more quiet. I opened Swastika quite a while ago because there were not many places for the women in this area to go. We do all the basic things like threading, waxing, and cutting hair. The shop is small and sometimes the floor gets a bit messy when we have many customers, but I try to sweep it up whenever I get a spare minute. Lucknow summers are very hot, so the air cooler is always running and making a lot of noise. We get a mix of students from the local hostels and women who live in the nearby colonies. I don't use any fancy language to talk about what we do here. It is just straightforward work. I enjoy talking to the customers about what is happening in the bazaar or sharing cooking tips. It is a friendly atmosphere. I only have one other girl helping me out. We just want to make sure people are happy with their hair or their eyebrows before they head back out into the busy market.
