You can find us at Shop No 66 in the Halwasia Market building. It is right in the middle of Hazratganj, which is a part of Lucknow that is always moving and shaking. We are quite close to the PNB Bank, so that is usually how we tell people to find us when they get lost. Lucknow gets really hot in the summer months, so we try to keep the shop as cool as we can with the old fans we have. The market is an old building and it has a lot of character, even if the stairs are a bit steep for some. We have been working here for a while now. It is mostly just a few of us. We do not have any corporate training or fancy uniforms, just comfortable clothes for a long day of standing on our feet. Customers come in with their shopping bags from the market and take a break while we do their hair or whatever else they need. It is a lot of talk about family and local news. Sometimes the electricity goes out for a few minutes in the afternoon, and we just sit and wait it out. That is just part of being in an old market like Halwasia. We keep the shop open until late because Hazratganj stays very lively in the evenings. It is a good spot to be, even if it gets a bit noisy with all the car horns.
