Shimla Mens Parlour

Our shop is over here near Munsi Puliya in Indira Nagar. It's a busy corner of Lucknow, especially in the mornings when everyone is trying to get to work or the metro. We’ve been at this spot for a long time now. You can see the Parag Dairy from our front door, which is handy when we want a quick tea or some lassi during the hot months. The shop isn't very large, just enough for a few chairs and some mirrors that have seen better days. We start early, usually sweeping the floor before the first customer walks in. It gets dusty outside with all the traffic, so we are always cleaning. We do basic haircuts and shaves for the men around here. Some guys come in every week just for a trim, others we only see once a month. We have a small radio that stays on a local station most of the day. It’s just us, sitting on the stools when it’s quiet, waiting for the next person. Sometimes the chairs are all full and people have to wait on the bench outside, but nobody seems to mind much. We don’t do anything fancy with the hair, just what people ask for. It’s a simple life running a parlour in this part of town. The light comes in through the front window in the afternoon and makes the place feel warm. We just try to keep things moving and make sure the towels are clean.
