Shanghai Chinese Beauty Parlour

We are up on the first floor of the Bhootnath Mandir Market in Indira Nagar. The shop is officially S. No. 5. Lucknow has a lot of parlours, but Shanghai Chinese Beauty Parlour has its own way of doing things. The name sometimes makes people curious, but we are just a local spot in the market. Since we are on the first floor, you have to walk up the stairs past the other shops. It’s a bit quieter up here than on the ground level. We deal with all sorts of hair and skin requests every day. The market can be very crowded, especially during festivals, so we stay pretty busy then. Our mirrors are large and the chairs are simple but they do the job. We don’t have a receptionist or anything fancy; one of us will just look up from our work and tell you how long the wait is. It's a very straightforward place. We've been in Indira Nagar long enough to know most of our customers by name. Sometimes we run out of a certain hair dye and have to send someone down into the market to get more. That’s just how it is running a small shop. We don’t have a big marketing plan or a polished image. We just open the doors and help the people who walk in with their beauty needs.
