Sas Chikan Private Limited

Our place is in Aliganj, Lucknow, over at Plot No A-30 in Sector E. We’ve been doing chikan work for quite a while now under the name Sas Chikan. If you’ve been to Lucknow, you know how important this work is to us. We aren't a giant factory. It’s more of a workshop where we keep the fabrics and the finished pieces. We work with a lot of local workers who do the embroidery. It takes a lot of time and patience. Sometimes things get delayed because the handwork is slow, but that’s just how it goes. We don't really do the whole corporate thing. Our office is just a room with some chairs and lots of piles of white cloth. We spend our days checking the thread and making sure the patterns are right. People come by to see what we have, and we usually just sit and chat while showing them the stock. It’s a very local way of doing business. We don't have a fancy mission statement or anything like that. We just want to keep the tradition going and make enough to pay our bills and the workers. It’s a quiet life here in Aliganj compared to the main markets, but we prefer it that way. It gives us space to focus on the details of the fabric and the designs.
