Sarita Bhatnagar Beauty Parlour

This parlour is located at S-5 on L. P. Road in the Wazirganj area of Lucknow. It is a small place that has been part of this street for quite some time. We are right in the middle of things here. Wazirganj is an old part of the city, so the lanes can be a bit narrow and crowded, but that’s the charm of Lucknow. We focus on basic beauty work for the ladies in the neighborhood. It’s mostly just me and a helper or two. We don’t have a lot of space, but we make it work. Most days involve a lot of threading and hair oiling. People come in to chat as much as they do for the services. It’s a very informal atmosphere. We don’t have set appointments usually; people just drop in when they have some free time from their housework. The building is an older one, but it’s sturdy. We keep the place clean and simple. You won't find any big flashing lights here. It’s just a sign outside on L. P. Road. I’ve lived in Lucknow my whole life, so opening this shop felt like the right thing to do. It’s nice being my own boss. Sometimes the power goes out, or it gets too hot in the summer, but we just keep going. It’s a steady pace of life.
