Rubi Shahbarl Beauty Parlour

Aminabad is always a bit of a mess with all the people and the noise, but that’s just Lucknow for you. Our parlour is tucked away in Tasveer Vali Gali, right in Shop Number 12. If you know the Swadeshi Market line, you can find us easily enough near Gayatri Market. It’s a tight squeeze in these lanes, but we make it work. Most days are spent doing threading or fixing someone’s hair while they tell us about their shopping finds. We’ve got the usual stuff inside, nothing too expensive or over the top. The fan hums all day to keep the heat away. It gets really busy during wedding seasons or festivals when everyone in Lucknow wants to look decent. We don’t have a big team or anything, just a few of us working. You learn a lot about people sitting in these chairs for an hour. We see students, mothers, and shopkeepers from the nearby stalls. Sometimes we run out of tea or the electricity acts up, but we just keep going. It isn’t some high-end spa you see on TV. It’s just a local spot where people come to get their eyebrows done or some henna applied. We like the bustle of the market outside, even if it gets a bit much sometimes. The street is narrow so you can always hear the rickshaws and people shouting. It is part of the charm of working in Aminabad I guess. We stay open late mostly because the market never seems to sleep.
