Riyansha Sarees

Riyansha Sarees is tucked away in the Universal Complex over on Balmiki Marg. If you know the Lalbagh area, you know it can be a bit of a maze with all the different shops and complexes, but we are right there at No. 8. Our shop is mostly filled with stacks and stacks of sarees. We spend a lot of our time just folding and unfolding fabric for people who want to see the patterns properly. It’s a lot of manual work, and my back usually aches by the end of the day, but that is just how it goes when you run a saree shop. The Universal Complex stays pretty busy during the daytime. You hear people talking in the hallways and the sound of bells from the nearby temples sometimes. We aren't trying to be the biggest shop in Lucknow, just a place where you can find something decent to wear. We don't use any fancy sales talk here. If someone likes a saree, they buy it, and if they don't, they move on to the next one. We’ve been in this spot for a while now and have seen the neighborhood change quite a bit. But the shop stays pretty much the same. We just keep doing what we do, sitting on the floor or behind the counter, waiting for the next person to walk through the door and ask for a look.
