Qayyum Hair Cutting Saloon

Qayyum Hair Cutting Saloon has been at Muftiganj Chauraha in Thakurganj for quite a long time. It’s right there in the Chowk area where everything is always moving. The shop is small and has that old-fashioned feel to it. We have the heavy wooden chairs and the big mirrors that show every detail. Most of the customers have been coming here since they were boys. Now they bring their own kids. It’s a lot of talk about the neighborhood and politics. The scissors are always clicking. We don’t use anything fancy, just the basics that work. The floor is tiled but has some cracks from years of use. It gets very crowded on Sundays, so some people just stand outside the door. We keep the radio on low, usually playing some old songs. The light is a bit dim towards the back, but we have a good bulb over the main chair. Thakurganj is a busy place, and we are right in the middle of the noise. I spend most of my day standing on my feet, but it’s okay. We don't have a website or anything; people just know where we are at the chauraha. It’s a simple way of living. We do the work, clean up, and go home to our families at night. That is the way it has been for years here in Lucknow and we don't plan to change much.
