Prabudh Academy

We are over by the Srinagar Gate in Alambagh. The Canara Bank is right there too, which helps people find the building. It’s a busy intersection, so there is always a lot of honking and people moving around outside. I’ve lived in Lucknow a long time and this area has changed quite a bit. The building isn't new. We have a few rooms set up for the students. The walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but they do the job for now. Every morning, I unlock the gate and check if the cleaners did their work. There’s a tea stall nearby where I get my morning chai. The students start trickling in around noon or so. Most of them come from the nearby colonies. We have some wooden benches and a few plastic chairs for the back. The windows look out toward the main road. It gets a bit loud when the buses go by, but you get used to it after a week or two. It’s just how it is in this part of the city. We don’t have any big signs, just the name on the door. It’s a simple setup. We spend most of the day sitting at the tables or standing by the boards. When the sun starts setting, the light hits the Srinagar Gate just right. Then we lock up and head home. It is a quiet kind of work most of the time. We just stay focused on the notebooks.
