Node Urban Lab

Node Urban Lab is located in Jankipuram, Lucknow. We are in Sector I, at the M-2/43 building. It is quite close to the Engineering College Chauraha, which is a busy landmark in this part of town. We called it a lab because we like to experiment a bit with how we look at urban spaces and buildings. The office itself doesn't look like a laboratory, though. It’s just a room with some long tables, a few computers, and a lot of maps and sketches pinned to the walls. We spend a lot of time thinking about how the city is growing and how we can make buildings that fit into that growth. Lucknow is a place with a lot of history, but it’s also changing fast, and we see that every day here in Jankipuram. We aren't a big, polished firm with people in suits. We are just a small group of designers who like to get our hands dirty. Sometimes we are out on the street taking measurements, and other times we are here debating over a floor plan. It gets really hot in the summer, so we have a few fans that hum constantly while we work. We don't have a receptionist, so if the phone rings, one of us just picks it up. We just want to do work that makes sense for the people living here and the environment we are in. That is how we have always done it.
