Menders Salon

Menders Salon is in Hari Tower. It's a busy part of Lucknow on Meera Bai Marg. Being near the Sales Tax Office means there are always people walking by or looking for a place to sit for a bit while they wait for their work to finish in Hazratganj. The shop isn't anything fancy. We have the usual chairs and mirrors that have been here for a while. Sometimes the traffic outside gets really loud, especially in the evenings when everyone is headed home. It's just a regular place where men come to get their hair cut or a quick shave before they head back to the office or go home to their families. We see the same faces every few weeks. Some guys have been coming here since they were much younger. The floor gets covered in hair pretty fast on busy days, so we are always sweeping it up. It’s a bit of a routine. We open up in the morning, get the water ready, and wait for the first person to walk through the door. Hazratganj has changed a lot over the years with new shops opening up, but we just stay here in the tower doing what we do. It’s not a complicated business. We just cut hair and talk about the news or the weather. Sometimes it’s quiet, and we just sit and watch the cars go by on the street outside.
