Marians Saloons

Marians Saloons sits right in the middle of Halwasiya Market in Hazratganj. It is easy to find since we are close to the Punjab National Bank. Most days start with us cleaning the floor and setting up the chairs before the first person walks in. Lucknow gets quite busy around here, especially in the evenings when everyone is out shopping. We have two units, numbers 63 and 65, so there is usually some room even on Saturdays. Our mirrors have a few scratches and the chairs are old but they are comfortable enough for a haircut or a shave. We don't do anything fancy, just the regular stuff people need. Sometimes the tea guy from down the street brings us chai and we sit for five minutes if it is quiet. The lights in Hazratganj are bright at night but inside it is just normal. We have been in this part of Lucknow for quite a while now. Most people who come here live nearby or work in the local offices. It gets a bit dusty because of the road work sometimes, but we try to keep things tidy. We just do our work and go home. There is no big secret to it. The fans hum all day and we listen to the radio or just talk about what is happening in the market. It is a simple place for a simple job. We are just here doing our thing and helping people look decent for the day.
