Makeup By Geetika Chakravarti is based in Hazratganj, right in the Indira Bhavan building on Ashok Marg. If you know Lucknow, you know how busy Hazratganj gets, especially in the evenings when everyone is out walking around. Indira Bhavan is a big landmark so it is easy for people to find us. The studio is where all the makeup work happens. We have a lot of lights and mirrors and brushes everywhere. It’s usually a bit of a mess when we are in the middle of a big job, but we clean it up after. We see a lot of brides and people going to parties. Lucknow has so many weddings that there is always someone needing their face done. We don't do much else besides the makeup and maybe some hair styling to go with it. It’s a small space but it works for what we need. The building can be a bit old and the elevators sometimes take forever, so we tell people to come a few minutes early. We aren't trying to be a big fancy company, just a place where you can get your makeup done right. We spend our days looking at colors and skin types. It's a lot of standing on our feet and making sure the lighting is just right. People come in nervous about how they will look and we just do our best with what we have. It’s honest work and we like being in the center of the city.
