Lucknow Creation

If you know where K.K Hospital is in Lucknow, then you’ve probably passed by our place on Nabi Ullah Road. We are right across from the hospital in the New Basti area. It’s a lively part of the city near the station. Our house number is 577, and that’s where we do all our work. It’s a bit of a mix between a home and a workshop. We deal with various creations, mostly fabric and traditional stuff that you’d expect around here. The street is always full of people, cars, and ambulances going to the hospital, so it never gets quiet. We’ve gotten used to the noise over the years. It’s just part of the day. Inside, we have our tables and machines set up. It’s not a shiny storefront. It’s more of a place where things are actually made. Sometimes it’s a bit dusty and there are threads everywhere on the floor. My cousins help out when things get busy. We don't really have set hours, we just work until the job is done. Being near Lal Bagh makes it convenient for getting supplies when we run out. We’ve been in this house for a long time. It’s not fancy but it suits the kind of work we do. People in the neighborhood know us. We just keep doing what we know how to do. There is always tea on the stove and work on the tables. It is our way of life.
