If you walk down Latouche Road near the Safed Masjid, you’ll find us at 187C. Diapers Palace is a place that many parents in the neighborhood know well. We have stacks of diapers piled up almost to the ceiling. It’s a busy street with lots of hardware shops and people moving goods on carts, so it can be quite a struggle to find parking nearby. Most people just pull over for a second to grab what they need. We have all sorts of sizes and brands jammed into the shop. It’s not a very big place but we make use of every inch of shelf space. Being near the Safed Masjid means we hear the calls for prayer throughout the day, which gives the shop a nice rhythm. We see a lot of the same faces, people who live in the narrow lanes behind the main road. The shop gets a bit stuffy in the summer because the building is old and doesn't have great airflow, but we keep a fan going at the counter. Sometimes we have other baby things too, but mostly it's just the basics that people need every day. It’s a simple business. We open up in the morning, talk to the neighbors, and sell what we can until it’s time to close up the shutters for the night. The road outside is always loud with horns and shouting, but we are used to it by now. It is just how life goes on this road.
